Larry Basham, 67, of Louisville, KY died on May 21st due to a tractor accident on the family farm in Brandenburg. He was born in Hardinsburg, KY in 1956 to Faye and Loyd Basham. Larry attended Meade County High School before studying Business at the University of Louisville and then obtaining a masters in HR Management from Webster University. He was an HR Manager throughout the bulk of his career.
Larry never met a piece of fish or chicken that he could not fry. He was a fixture in the kitchen at any St. Gabriel event. Providing great food and service while having fun and pushing those around him was one of his passions.
Larry lived his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather with that same passion. He loved to serve and was always available as a helping hand. One of Larry's greatest loves was his time with the boy scouts. He worked arm in arm with his own sons as well as everyone else's.' One of his greatest personal achievements was as Scout Master to St. Gabriel's troop. Larry did not do anything halfway. He touched so many lives through his involvement with the St. Gabriel's Men's club, the Knights of Columbus and with the Alumni Association of his college fraternity, Delta Upsilon. But.on top of his great love for family, especially for his grandchildren, the one that hits the all-time high is his love for the University of Louisville Cardinals. Card fans, keep an eye out for a possible blow-up Larry in section 219 in the fall. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Bryan Basham and his father, Loyd Basham.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Elaine Basham, sons, Jeff (Abi) Basham, Mark (Sara) Basham, and daughter, Katie Basham. Larry was a beloved "Pop" to seven grandchildren: Grayson, Harper, Taylor, Samuel, William, Reese, and Rhett. He is also survived by his mother, Faye Basham, brothers, Kevin (Robin) Basham, Dale Basham and sisters, Dana Medley, and Erin Basham (Brian King). Survivors also include multiple nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Larry and his family have an abundance of family and friends in both the Brandenburg area and the Louisville area, so there will be two options for visitation.
In Brandenburg, visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 515 Broadway Street, with a mass immediately following. In Louisville, a mass will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel, 5505 Bardstown Road. Following the mass on Wednesday, all are welcome to join us for a Celebration of Life gathering anytime from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Woodhaven Country Club (front entrance), 7200 Woodhaven Road.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Boy Scouts of America/Scouting America in Larry's name.

Elaine, you and I worked together at BF for years but I never had the pleasure of meeting Larry. And he sounds like the kind of guy everybody enjoyed. I´m so very sorry for your loss.
