Larry Wayne Blankenship, 78, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born on April 20, 1947 in Logan County, KY to the late Jack and Maxine Blankenship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years; Brenda Blankenship, son; Shane Blankenship, his wife Hannah and their children, Marshall, Bailey and Patton, daughter; Shannon Payne and her husband Kevin and their child Erica, daughter; Mechelle Blankenship and her children Brandon, Brandy and Amanda. He had a special place in his heart for his great grandchildren; BJ, Ross, Gauge, Clyde and Dean, as well as several nieces and nephews. Also surviving Larry is his cherished dog; Bo.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers; Jackie Blankenship and Gary Blankenship. Larry was greeted in heaven by his beloved dogs; Chloe, Izzy and Wicket.
He was a proud graduate from Auburn High School. Throughout his life, Larry found joy in spending time with his family, Bass fishing, watching and collecting NASCAR, racing at Beech Bend Raceway, working on stock and drag cars and bowling on a league with his wife at Crescent Bowling Alley. Larry worked for 24 years at Holley and for 15 years at NASCO where he operated forklifts. Larry was a devoted member of Greenwood Baptist Church where he attended regularly with his wife for 10 years.
The family wants to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Hospice House in Bowling Green. A special thanks to Chris and Amy Early, Chris Grubb, Denny and Julie Eicher, Andy Herman and Patty and Kenny Grubb for their continued help and support with Larry.
Larry was a cherished, great and wonderful grandaddy, great-grandaddy, father, brother and husband. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family will accept friends on Tuesday, November 11th from 5-8PM at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and on Wednesday, November 12th from 9-11AM at the Lovers Lane Chapel followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM. Officiating the service will be Dr. Jeff Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
Funeral Services are entrusted in J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
