It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Duane Buckner, age 76, of Dayton. He passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025. Larry was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 5, 1949 to the late Morrison and Jeweldean Buckner.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Andrew Buckner as well as his niece, Jossi Moser.
He is survived by brothers, Garry Buckner and Michael Buckner; great-niece, Ashlee Holland, who he helped raise most of her life; great-great-niece, Annaleea Lewis; great-nieces, Chloe, Hailey and Rayne Moser; nephew, Jason Moser; as well as many cousin, extended family members and friends.
Larry graduated from Fairmont High School in Kettering, Class of 1968. He attended Wright State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a master's degree in Systems Engineering. Larry retired from Wright Patterson AFB after many years.
He was a compassionate, intelligent and quiet man. Larry was the type of person everyone should strive to be. He always had a fun fact ready to share. Larry was a very literal person and appreciated conciseness. He was willing to have a conversation with anyone about anything and always found a way to relate.
In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, reading, spoiling his baby girls and learning and talking about history.
