Larry Wayne Gayer, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on April 10, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on April 21, 1948, to Keith and Mabel (Randleman) Gayer, Larry was a lifelong resident of Springfield and a proud graduate of Hillcrest High School, Class of 1966. On February 10, 1967, Larry married the love of his life, Connie Sue (Glenn), and together they shared 58 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and family. Larry served his country with honor in the United States Army Reserves, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge on August 31, 1973.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Larry found purpose and pride in his work and family. He owned and operated Larry's Skelly for many years and later worked at Stewart's Auto until his retirement. When not working, Larry enjoyed woodworking, yardwork, boating, camping, and spending time with the people he loved most-especially Connie, who was truly the light of his life.
Larry was a member of the Sac River Cowboy Church. He was known for his unwavering work ethic, kind heart, and willingness to help others without hesitation. He leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and quiet strength-a man who led by example and lived for his family.
Larry is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Keith and Mabel Gayer; his brother-in-law, Dale Green; and his faithful dog, Izzy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Sue Gayer; his children, Larry (Ashley) Gayer and Scott (Valerie) Gayer; and his grandchildren, Miranda (Jesse) Wiser, Madison Gayer, Mason Gayer, Paige Gayer, Peyton Gayer, Taylor (Wyatt) Cloyd, Braden Bagley, and Ruby Bagley. He is also survived by his great-grandchild, Brooks Cloyd; his brother, Gene (Judy) Gayer; his sisters-in-law, Carol (Jim) Chowning, Bobbie Green, and Gaylene (Steve) Goodman; along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri. A service celebrating Larry's life will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Larry's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

I am sad to hear about Mr Gayer. He and Mrs Gayer are good friends and neighbors with my folks and I always enjoyed visiting with him. He was a very upbeat, happy and hard-working person and he was good to my family. You could always expect a good laugh whenever you talked with him and I will surely miss seeing him around our neighborhood. My prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
