Mr. Larry B. Gillham, 80, of Athens Highway, Elberton, GA, husband of 61 years to Janice Greathouse Gillham, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA.
Mr. Gillham was born in Seiling, OK on December 3, 1944, son of the late Stanley C. Gillham and Rosa Garriott Gillham. He graduated from Enid High School in 1963. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1970 with his master’s degree, having been the 2nd person hired by Dupont in research & development right out of college.He was a manager having retired from Dupont in the crop protection department in 2000.
Mr. Gillham was an active member of First Baptist Church of Elberton where he was involved with the Ramp Ministry, Choir, Security Team, and served as a Deacon. He was also a member of Gideons International and was a volunteer with many Samaritans purse relief efforts across the country. Mr. Gillham was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables, he loved sharing the results of his labor with friends. He also loved turning bowls on his lathe.
In addition to Janice, he is survived by his children: Michael (Lori) Gillham and Keri Coleman; grandchildren: Jacob Gillham, Austin (Charlotte) Gillham, Cheyenne Coleman, and Kiera Coleman; step-grandchildren: Brittany Lentz and Alexis Lentz; great-grandchildren: Alissa, Braylen, Layla, and Jovian; and sister, Carol (Bud) Cunningham.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Bill Gillham and Stanley Gillham; and son-in-law, Chris Coleman.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Saturday, June 28, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating Larry’s life will be conducted on Sunday, June 29, at 2:30p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elberton with the Revs. Tim Adams and Gary Purvis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
