Philippians 1:21 "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Larry Buck Holland, 85 years old, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2024, in Round Rock, Texas. He was born May 31, 1939, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Sam and Dottie Carver Holland. He was the youngest of seven children. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam Holland and Dottie Carver Holland and his siblings, Marie Holland Martin, Kathryn Holland Brazil, Mildred Holland Fagg, Sammie Holland Cole, Edwin Holland, and Madge Holland Hooper.
Buck always had a smile on his face and was optimistic, a dreamer, and service oriented. He loved his family, loved being the youngest sibling by ten to twenty years, and loved being born into a Christian family. He was loved by his older sisters and was close to them throughout his life. He liked to tell people what his mother told him: that he had three important things in his life. First, was Jesus. He takes care of everything. Next, was his spouse. Last, was his family. Keep them in that order, and life will go well.
Buck enjoyed going to church, taught Sunday school in Donna, and led worship for the "Winter Texans" in many Rio Grand Valley trailer parks. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen for over 20 years and later was Director of Senior Adults at First Baptist Church of McAllen.
His pride and joy were his daughters, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. He showed many friends, and even strangers, pictures and videos of them and collected caps from their schools so that he could talk to people about them. He was very proud of them all.
Buck was an entrepreneur and created Valley Aluminum Products and started Red Carpet Realty. He liked to give away the spicy pickles he loved to make, serve other people, hunt, fish, make card holders, travel, and play games. He enjoyed playing Canasta with his siblings, dominoes at Crestview Baptist in Georgetown, and Hand and Foot at Catfish Parlor with "His ladies".
Buck liked to be with his family, listen to Lisa sing, and watch his grandkids in football, tennis, soccer, cheerleading, baseball, and musicals.
Buck was a proud American who was an Army Veteran and will be buried in the Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Mary Ruth Pritchard Holland; mother in law Ruth Moutz Pritchard; his daughters Sherry Holland Webb (Russell Webb) and Lisa Holland Bint (Eric Bint); grandchildren Taylor Lauren Webb, Trent Logan Webb (Alexandra Keene Webb), Trevor Landon Webb, Tatum Lindsey Webb (fiancé Landon Garrett), Ethan Reid Bint, Austin Cade Bint, Lauren Paige Bint; great-granddaughter Blair Ella Webb; close friends Tommy and Patricia Seal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for the family will be on November 29, 2024, Friday, from 3 pm - 7 pm, at Lisa's house. Buck's celebration of life will be at Crestview Baptist Church, 2300 Williams Drive, Georgetown, November 30, Saturday, at 11 am.
