Larry Wesley Sexton, 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 21, 2026. He was born June 23, 1941 in Springfield, IL to Virgil and Florence (Solomon) Sexton.
After attending Feitchens High School, in Springfield, Larry served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Forestall. After his time in the military, Larry became involved in all aspects of carpentry and construction for many years of his life. In 1981, Larry was united in marriage to Linda Graham Blencoe in Aurora, Illinois, where they then made their home with their family in Oswego, Illinois for over 31 years.
After Larry retired from the District Council of Carpenters Union in Chicago, Il. he continued to work for 13 more years for Home Depot in both Geneva, IL and Oswego, IL.
In 2012, Larry and his wife moved to their retirement home in Lady Lake, Florida. Always the Carpenter, while residing in Florida, Larry did handy man jobs in the community and volunteered his time and talent working with The Carpenters for Christ, building wheel chair ramps for those in need. Larry enjoyed fishing, his weekly poker night, gardening, woodworking, cooking/grilling out, gathering with friends and time with his wife antique/thrift shopping, beach time, golf cart riding, dining out, exploring new places and quiet nights at home. During his last days, Larry enjoyed sitting on the lanai with his wife and his morning coffee watching the many variety of birds his birdfeeder brought into their yard.
Larry is survived by his wife, of 44 years, Linda, a daughter, Deanna Vargas (Chris), son David Sexton, his sister, Judy Bonner, and brother, Robert Sexton, grandsons Richard Keith, Max Vargas, Malychi and Tayton Sexton and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, William and Carl Sexton.
