Larry Frederick Sitz, 82, passed away on October 17, 2025, in
Greeneville, Tennessee. Born on October 16, 1943, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Larry lived a vibrant and purposeful life marked by service, entrepreneurship, and a deep appreciation for family and community.
After earning a business degree from the University of Tennessee, Larry began his professional journey in personnel management and labor negotiations. In the early 1980s, he followed his entrepreneurial instincts and founded his own drycleaning business. Through vision and hard work, he expanded the enterprise to include several laundromats, building a successful and enduring service that became a valued part of the community.
Larry proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He flew A-4 aircraft and was stationed in Japan. His dedication to his fellow service members continued long after his active duty through his involvement with the Marine Corps League and his steadfast support for veterans and active military personnel.
A man of many interests, Larry embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He treasured time spent with family and friends and had a passion for travel. He was an avid builder and flyer of model airplanes and found joy in woodworking and golfing. His adventurous spirit was perhaps most evident in his love of motorcycling-discovering unique sites, shops, and restaurants across the country with close friends, creating lasting memories on the open road.
Larry also had a deep appreciation for music, particularly traditional instruments. He learned to play the hammered dulcimer and mountain dulcimer, attending workshops to refine his skills and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
Raised in the Methodist church, Larry carried those values with him throughout his life. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life, always ready with a story, a word of advice, or a listening ear.
Larry is lovingly remembered by his daughters Tracy Cassell (Ben) and Kristin Rivard (Kenny); grandchildren Adrienne Hunt (Brandon), Nicholas Norton, Susannah Norton, Emma Rivard, and Caitlin Rivard; and cousins Greg Bobbs and Ken Sitz. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Sitz Jr., and his mother, Darlee Fenwick Boyer.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 PM on October 22, 2025, with military honors at 4:30 PM, at Jeffers Funeral Chapel, 101 Graceland Ln., Afton. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 PM.
Larry's legacy lives on through those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and joy to all who shared in his journey.
