Larry Eugene Smith

Larry Eugene Smith passed away at his home January 17, 2025.
He was born in New London, Connecticut on February 24, 1945 to parents Luther and Imogene Smith. The family moved to Sweetwater when Larry was very young. He attended school in Sweetwater and graduated from Newman High School in 1963, where he played Mustang Football, and was proud to maintain good grades. Following graduation, he entered college at West Texas A & M and later transferred to the University of Texas to pursue his Pharmacy Degree. After graduation from U.T. Larry was drafted and served in the United States Marine Corp, during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Mr. Smith returned to Sweetwater to work with his dad at Smitty's Drug, where he met and married his wife of 53 years, Margaret McCain Smith. He worked in Pharmacy for over 50 years, retiring several years ago.
Larry is survived by his wife; Margaret of Sweetwater, 2 daughters: Lisa Adames and husband Michael of Sweetwater, Andrea Zant and husband Don of Portugal, 5 grandsons: Justin Adames, Zach Adames, Kendal Adames, Troy Zant and Solomon Zant. He also has 4 great-grandchildren and his brother Jimmy Smith and wife Sharon of Abilene and is preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Sweetwater Cemetery with Justin Adames officiating. Visitation will be from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm on Sunday at McCoy Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Michael Adames, Justin Adames, Zach Adames and Kendal Adames.
