Larry Whittaker, passed away on March 30, 2025, at the age of 68. Larry was born on January 26, 1957, in Grundy, Virginia the son of Alvin and Hazel (Meadows) Whittaker.
During his time in the United States Army, Larry honed his skills as a road grader and ironworker, fields in which he excelled and continued professionally after his service. He was a skilled ironworker, mason and construction worker for many years
An outdoorsman at heart, Larry loved fishing, mushrooming, and enjoying a nice piece of venison. He had a gift for creating treasures with his hands, which he shared generously with those around him.
Larry is survived by his wife, Grace Moore, children, Jasmin Renee Stincer, Jason Herryers, and Michael (Terza) Whittaker, sister Doris (David) Moore, brothers and sisters in law: Kathleen Boggs, Melvin (Susan) Moore, Robert Moore, and Judy (John) Acker, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Whittaker Jr., siblings, James Whittaker and Delores McGowan.
Larry's family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2025, 10:00 to 12:00 PM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors by American Legion Post 45 will be conducted immediately following at 12:30 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery.
