Laura Smith

Laura C. Smith, (Nee Chiofalo) passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2025. Born
in Brooklyn and a resident of Middle Village, Queens through 8th grade, she was the
daughter of Armand and Rosemary Chiofalo. Her family moved to Staten Island prior to her freshman year of high school. Laura was a graduate of Moore Catholic High School and St John's University, both on Staten Island.
Laura, also affectionately known as Gigi, Larry and Lulu, was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved her family immensely and would do
anything for them without question. She treasured her time with her grandchildren, Lily
and Hudson, who both brightened her days and brought that beautiful smile to her face.
She enjoyed going to the beach, reading the latest novel and cooking for the family on
holidays. Laura also loved swimming, dancing and spending time with her sister and
friends, some of which she has had since high school and others that have been added along the way.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving husband Michael, son Michael Jr, (Alexandra), daughter Amanda (Jennie), daughter Gillian, grandchildren Lily and Hudson, and sister Linda Morgan (Dennis).
Laura had the natural ability to offer a kind or helpful word to anyone that asked for her
advice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am Thursday January 30 at St.
Joseph's Church in Keyport, NJ. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Jamesburg N.J.
Family and Friends are asked to gather Wednesday January 29 from 4-8pm at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 111 Main Street, Matawan, NJ.
