Laura Harris Wilde, 94, of Pleasant View, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024 surrounded by family.
Laura was born on July 15, 1929 in Pleasant View. She was the daughter of Lawrence James and Irene Buckley Harris. She had wonderful memories of life on the farm with her siblings Erma, Earl, Edith, Wayne and Lola.
She graduated from Weber High School and earned an Associate’s degree from Weber College. She worked at Newberry’s, JC Penney, and Shupe Williams Candy Factory. Her most fulfilling job was being a mother and homemaker.
Laura married Wayne Eugene Wilde of Ogden on June 10, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and were married for 71 years before his passing on October 29, 2020. Together they raised seven children, Karen (Thayne) Fry, Keith (Sharon) Wilde, LaMar (RaNae) Wilde, LaRae (Bryan) Morris, JoAnn Wengreen, JoLyn (Russ) Adams, and Brent (Cindy) Wilde.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings including Relief Society President. She served two missions with her husband: in the Indiana Indianapolis Mission and were in the pilot group of the Ogden Inner-City Mission.
They traveled to Yuma, Arizona during the winter for about 20 years and were members of two travel clubs: The Anteloper’s and Over the Hill Sams. They were involved in multiple square dance clubs for over 30 years and she served as the Utah State Square Dance Association Secretary for 2 years.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing the piano and organ, baking, decorating wedding cakes, arts and crafts, sewing, sitting in her rose garden, and loved and taught line dancing at multiple Senior Centers. We always felt her love as she
supported and attended her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
Laura is survived by her children and her siblings Edith (Ronald) Finch, Wayne (Shirley) Harris, and Lola (Vern) Child. She has 27 grandchildren, 56 great- grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, and siblings, Erma and Robert Crompton, Earl and Betty Harris; sister-in-law, Sue Harris; and 2 younger siblings, Marie and Lawrence Jr.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Visiting Angels, George E Wahlen Ogden Veteran’s Home staff, especially her compassionate niece Linda Sanchez, and Bristol Hospice for their loving care of our sweet mother.
