Laureen Susan Tyler (nee Kitko), 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, surrounded by many family members a testament to how fiercely she loved, and was loved by, her family.
Born March 5, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, Laureen was preceded in death by parents Aurora (Albertini) and Paul Kitko, and sister Cheryl. She is survived by her husband Larry Tyler; daughters Laura (Shawn) Sullivan, Renee (Brian) Sabat, and stepdaughter Heather (Tony) Lastoria; grandchildren Sara (Mike) Serbanoiu, Ian Sullivan, Nina and Brian Sabat Jr., and Nicholas and Alyssa Lastoria; siblings Paulette Kitko, Richard (Sharon) Kitko and Michael (Francine) Kitko; brother-in-law John Whitcomb; and many nieces and nephews.
Laureen was a sharp, successful financial services businesswoman and entrepreneur who leaves behind an incredible legacy of professional accomplishments. She started her career at Bestline Products, where she worked her way to become National Executive Director. A trailblazer, Laureen was Vice President of Broadview Savings & Loan in the 1970s, at a time when few women reached that level. She was also President of SME (Sales & Marketing Executives) Cleveland before becoming a Certified Financial Planner in the 1980s, leading her to start CFP Services of Northeast Ohio. She later created Design-A-Gift, with her sister Cheryl, and upon retirement, was a Mortgage Officer at Huntington Bank.
An avid and excellent cook, Laureen loved to prepare delicious meals for her family and friends. She also loved music and dancing, as many of her friends might remember from their time in the E Room at Euclid High School. She was also proud to support organizations she believed did incredible work, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, City Mission, Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army and many others. In lieu of flowers, though Laureen had a profound love for them, she would have been honored if you supported these organizations.
Above all, Laureen sweetly known as "Buddie", "Madre", "Gram/Grammy", "Auntie-Grammy" and "Hoochie" adored her loved ones and found joy in spending time with every single member of her large, close-knit family. Her warmth, zest for life and dedication to both her professional and personal life will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
