Laurie G. Berg
October 5, 1961 - November 2, 2022
MILWAUKEE - Laurie G. Berg (Nee Weier), age 61, of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center.
Laurie was born on October 5, 1961, in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of Roland and Carol Weier (Nee Webster). As a young girl, Laurie grew up with five brothers and one sister. The growing family squeezed into a cozy house in Kellner, WI where they spent days playing in the woods, swimming in lakes, and getting into mischief of one kind and another.
In her teenage years, Laurie worked at Big Boy Restaurants, where she bussed tables, took orders, and served food to patrons. She did this all with a smile on her face and a positive attitude, which allowed her to earn the "People Pleaser of the Month" award. Laurie continued to get into lots of mischief with her brothers and sister at Lincoln High School, where she graduated from in 1980.
One year later, Laurie married Dale and they moved to West Allis, WI where she joined the world of corporate bankers. She joined West Allis Savings Bank, where she earned numerous certificates and awards. This is not surprising, as Laurie was always an extremely hard-working individual. Laurie and Dale went on to have two beautiful girls Stephanie and Sara. Laurie worked hard to balance her life as a working parent, and she did her best to be a wonderful homemaker.
Later, in the year of 1997, tragedy struck Laurie's life, as she and Dale divorced. She found happiness through spending time with her children, Stephanie and Sara, and by serving her community as a certified Special Education Paraprofessional for the West Allis- West Milwaukee School District. Again, it is not surprising that this is the path Laurie led. She was always a kind and caring soul, who wanted to give her all to everyone and everything.
Laurie had lots of friends and family who supported her throughout her life, but she never did find her true soul mate. I suppose it was in her destiny to serve others, and to be the wonderful and loving mother, sister, daughter, and friend that she was.
Laurie enjoyed many activities, but one of her favorite past-times was to work in her garden. In her fabulous yard, Laurie kept an assortment of lawn ornaments, which she was very proud of. At the end of a hard day's work in the yard, you could often find Laurie swapping stories and laughing with her friends and family around a bonfire on a warm summer's night.
In her home, Laurie was a habitual watcher of The Price Is Right, The Wheel of Fortune, and Survivor. Laurie was also a knickknack maniac, and enjoyed collecting decorative plates, bowls, and ceramic shoes. While Laurie enjoyed collecting these items, she also took pride in keeping a tidy home. She was always organized and made sure everything had its place. It brought her joy and serenity to have a clean and peaceful home.
Laurie is survived by her daughters: Stephanie (Michael) Smith and Sara Berg; two grandchildren: Henry Smith and Eleanor Smith; her brothers Jeff Weier, Terry (Sue) Weier, Tim (Terry) Weier, Roland Jr. (Denise) Weier, and Tom (Sandy) Weier; her mom: Carol Weier; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father: Roland Weier, and her sister: Tina (Troy) Sisley.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 2:00 PM until time of the Memorial Service at 4:00 PM at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 7626 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis, WI. Please send flowers and donations to the funeral home.
