Funeral services for Laverne Weiser, 84, of Giddings, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas, with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation on Sunday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Laverne Rose (Mitschke) Weiser was born on July 15, 1940 in Winchester, Texas, to Rudie A. Mitschke and Wanda (Schulz) Mitschke. She was born again into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Winchester on July 21, 1940 by Rev. Edward R. Rathgeber. Laverne confirmed her faith in the Lord of Life at St. Michael's Lutheran Church on April 3, 1955 by Rev. Walter Streicher. Her confirmation verse was Rev. 2:10 "Be thou faithful until death and I will give thee a crown of life." On December 14, 1958, Laverne was united in marriage to Edgar Weiser at St. Michael's with Rev. Walter Streicher Officiating. Edgar and Laverne were blessed with two sons and one daughter, John, Dale, and Rose. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Laverne was an employee at Zoch's Laundry for 53 years. Laverne loved to cater with her family and St. Paul Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and spending time with her family and friends.
Laverne is preceded in death by her parents, Rudie and Wanda Mitschke; husband, Edgar Weiser; daughter, Patricia Rose Weiser; and her brother, Rudy Lee Mitschke.
She is survived by her two sons, Dale Weiser and wife Sherry of Giddings and John Weiser and special friend Theresa of Giddings; four grandchildren, McKalie Chadwick and friend Lee of Giddings, Brent Weiser and friend Natalie of San Antonio, Dylan Weiser and wife Jenny of California, and Adriana Weiser and friend Kaleb of Dallas; great grandson, Christian Chadwick of Giddings; brother-in-law, Alton Weiser of Giddings; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Mitschke of Santa Fe and Delores Pietsch of Waco as well as several extended family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cliff Kurio, Dennis Kurio, Robert Cromwell, Phillip Mitschke, Michael Mitschke, and Thomas Mitschke.
Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Fund or the charity of one's choice.
