Lawrence “Larry” Heinlein, age 78, of Millcreek, was born in Erie on October 21, 1947, a son of the late W. Tighe Heinlein and Margaret M. Weis Heinlein. Larry passed away, after battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease, on November 11, 2025.
Larry was a Class of 1966 graduate of McDowell High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He and his wife owned and operated Heinlein Plumbing for over 22 years. He was a
member of the Local Plumber’s Union and the Plumber’s Association, as well as the American Legion Post 771, where he was a past Commander for 10 consecutive years.
Larry was an active member of Our Lady of Peace, where he severed in many roles. He and his wife loved to travel in their RV and enjoyed golfing.
Larry was predeceased by his daughter, Judi Ryback, and his grandson, Trenton Ryback. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Geiermann Heinlein; a son, David Heinlein; a granddaughter, Melissa Heinlein; two brothers, J. Thomas Heinlein and his wife Nancy of Fairview and Robert J. Heinlein and his wife Sandi; He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and a great grandson.
Friends may call on the family at the Burton West Ridge Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St. on November 16th from 1pm-5pm and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 2401 West 38th St. at 10am on November 17th.
Memorials may be made to OLP School Endowment fund, Boots on the Ground, or the
Lou Gehrig’s Disease of Pennsylvania (the ALS Association).
