Lawrence HenryMcCauley, Upper Arlington, Born September 4, 1922, at 136 W. Mulberry St., Lancaster, OH. Passed away February 21,2023. Preceded in death by his precious wife and mother of their eight children, Mary Ann, his parents John A. & Stella M. McCauley, brothers James, John, Paul, Frank, brother-in-law James Wagonseller, sister's Mary McCauley Wagonseller& Rose McCauley Boch. Army Veteran, WWII, 1942-45, D-Day June 6th 1944 Omaha Beach through to Berlin with 4 Campaign stripes, recipient of European Victory Medal with five Bronze Stars, converted bronze to one Silver Star, Normandy Invasion Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Knighted as a Chevalier with the French Legion of Honor Medal from France for his efforts to help liberate France from tyranny. He was a graduate and class president of Lancaster St. Mary's class of 1941. A graduate of OhioUniversity class of 1949, and a 1975 graduate of the Rutgers graduate school of banking. He retired at age 65 from National City (PNC) and became an active assistant at Sugarbush Corporation before his second retirement in 2014. Mr. McCauley was (since age 18) a life member of Council 1016, Knights of Columbus, Past Commander,American Legion Post 82,, Past Department of Ohio Treasurer and Buckeye Boy's State banking Chairman, American Legion, Life member VFW Post 2374, and Catholic War Veterans Post #1936. Larry McCauley was (since '59) a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church and past president of the St. Agatha Men's Club, past president of the downtown Catholic Men's Luncheon Club at St. Patrick's, and Catholic Laymen's retreat league. He was an active Eucharistic Minister at RiversideMethodistHospital. He was a founder and first treasurer of the Watterson Athletic Association and was honored as a Hall of Fame member in 1988. Mr. McCauley is survived by his eight (8) children with six son's Edward C. (Debra), John A. (Dion), Daniel J. Dennis P. (Claudette), James F. (Barbara), and Thomas J. (Heather). Daughters Kathryn (William) Ubbing and Mary Ruth Ann (John) Connor, fifteen (15) grandchildren, Kelly, Colleen, Elizabeth, John Ubbing, Adam, Alec, Andrew, Megan, Joseph, Sean, Matthew and Katherine McCauley; Maria, Anna and McCauley Connor and ten (10) Great Grandchildren. Friends may call Friday 2/24/23 from 4-7pm at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 4661 Kenny Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 2/25/23 at St. Agatha Catholic Church 10am, 1860 Northam Road. Military Service at Resurrection Cemetery following Mass. In lieu of flowers please remember St. Agatha Church, Columbus Right-to-Life, or your favorite charity. Mom and Pop will see you in Heaven!
