Lawrence Otto Ziegler, a dedicated family man and proud veteran, passed away on September 14, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on February 5, 1944, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Lawrence led a life marked by commitment, passion, and love for his family and community.
A graduate of Sacred Heart High School in 1962, Lawrence exemplified the values of hard work and perseverance. He spent five years serving in the United States Marine Corps, where he bravely completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his time in the military, he joined General Motors, where he dedicated his career to the company, witnessing the evolution of the GM data center through numerous transitions until his retirement.
Lawrence was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his spirited enthusiasm for sports. He found joy in cheering for the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Purdue Boilermakers. His passion for swimming was evident as he regularly attended meets to support his children, Tamara and Paul, and later watched with pride as his grandchildren, Matthew, Angelea, Nicole, and Sarah, competed in the water.
On April 11, 1964, Lawrence married Marie I. Ziegler (Mahoney), and together they built a loving family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and drew immense pride from the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Lawrence is survived by his sister, Mary Jane, daughter Tamara, son Paul (Susan), and grandchildren Matthew, Angelea, Nicole, and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Ziegler; his mother, Catherine Ziegler; his father, Otto Ziegler; and his sister, Judith Bickel.
The legacy of Lawrence Otto Ziegler will be remembered by all who knew him, and he leaves behind a profound impact on his family, friends, and the community he served with unwavering dedication.
