On Friday, April 26, 2024, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Leah Viriginia Dunham passed away at Wilson Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Leah Virginia Dunham was born on November 12, 1933 in rural Havana, Kansas to Buryl and Vesta (Woodworth) Payne. Virginia graduated from Elk City High School in Elk City, Kansas. On July 5, 1952, Viriginia married George Bruce Dunham. Viginia retired from Emerson Electric as an inspector in 1997.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Buryl and Vesta Payne, husband, George Bruce Dunham, sons, Bruce Lane, Garryl and Robert Dunham, and sister, Mary Jean.
Viriginia’s memory will live on with her sons, Glynn of Independence, and Monte of Neodesha, daughter, Patty of Independence, and numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence on Wednesday, May 1st with the family greeting friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at Potts Chapel on Thursday, May 2nd at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions can be left to Sycamore Community Church in Virginia’s name.
