Leo 'Lee' Fitzpatrick, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 30, 2025, in Berkley, at the age of 82. Born on December 5, 1942, in Detroit, Lee was the beloved son of the late Leo and Virginia Fitzpatrick. He was a beacon of love and kindness, whose selfless nature touched the lives of all who knew him.
Lee graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School in 1960, where he began to shape his future. He went on to attend Michigan State University, furthering his education before embarking on a successful career as a Real Estate Broker. Lee's professionalism and integrity in his work were paralleled only by his commitment to his family and his passion for life.
On July 12, 2003, Lee married the love of his life, Barbara, in Redford, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. Lee was a devoted father to his children, Lisa (Ken) Fitzpatrick-Keeler, Tim (Bindu) Fitzpatrick, Leo 'Lee' (Amy) Fitzpatrick, Jason (Erin) Perilli, Brandon (Amy) Perilli, and Ashley (Kyle) Milia; and a doting grandfather to his thirteen grandchildren. His brother, Kelly (Maria) Fitzpatrick, will fondly remember Lee's unwavering support and brotherly love. Preceding him death were his parents; and two brothers, Steven and Timothy Fitzpatrick.
An avid sports enthusiast, Lee's love for hockey was unparalleled. He played the game with vigor and enthusiasm for over 50 years, embodying the spirit of the sport. His love for watching sports was only surpassed by the joy he found in spending time with his grandchildren and family. Lee's presence at family gatherings was a source of comfort and happiness, and his legacy of love will continue to live on through them.
Lee's life was a testament to the values of love, kindness, and selflessness. He was a man who put the needs of others before his own, and his generous spirit was felt by all. His laughter was infectious, his advice was invaluable, and his ability to love unconditionally was his greatest gift to the world.
As we bid farewell to Leo 'Lee' Fitzpatrick, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured forever. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide us. Lee's story is not one of sorrow, but rather a beautiful narrative of a life filled with purpose, joy, and an abundance of love.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 4th from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM the time of the Memorial Service at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 12 Mile Road, Berkley (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue).
