Leigh Anna Peveto, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and faithful servant of Christ, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 23, 2025, surrounded by her sweet family. Leigh was born on May 29, 1963, in Orange, Texas. Leigh lived a life marked by grace, kindness, and an unwavering faith in God's promises. She was a devoted daughter, compassionate sister, loving wife, caring mother, extraordinary grandmother, and treasured friend. Her gentle spirit, radiant smile, and generous heart touched the lives of everyone she met, reflecting the love of Christ in word and deed.
A woman deeply rooted in her faith, Leigh drew strength and guidance from her favorite Scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6). She lived these words daily, reminding her family and all who knew her that true peace is found in trusting God's plan.
She served faithfully at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church in Beaumont and Houston's First Baptist Church, sharing her gifts through teaching, prayer, and acts of kindness. She also gave much of her time and heart to Little Eden Children's Home, an orphanage in Kenya whose mission is to equip and teach the children to become productive and Christ-like leaders in their communities. She developed incredible relationships with the children and the Little Eden staff, reflecting Christ's love all throughout. Her greatest legacy is the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched with her prayers, encouragement, and steadfast hope.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Bobbye Carol Scarber and her father-in-law, Frank Peveto. Leigh is survived by her husband of 39 years, Paul Peveto, and her three children, Haley Peveto and her husband Earl Guill, Madison Hillin and her husband Luke, and Cole Peveto. She leaves behind two beloved grandchildren who call her "LeLe," Charlotte and Walker Hillin. She is also survived by her father, Prentice Scarber, her two sisters, Pam Alford and husband Gary, and Tena Scarber, her mother-in-law Flora Peveto, her sister-in-law Sheryl Moss and husband Randy, along with dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and devoted friends. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice knowing that she is now in the arms of her Savior, surrounded by His everlasting love.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 1:00PM in the Chapel at Houston's First Baptist Church, located at 7401 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77024. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held at the church. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor her remarkable life and the faith she so beautifully shared.
