Leo Hart, born in Elizabeth, NJ and raised in Sayreville, NJ died at the age of 68 on Monday February 6th 2023 after a two and a half year long battle with cancer. Leo was a graduate of Sayreville War Memorial High School before entering the workforce and brought the same focus and commitment to multiple occupations that he carried for the other aspects of his life.
He showed an aptitude and passion for athletics at an early age and it carried through the entirety of his life. From winning a punt, pass and kick competition at the age of ten to managing and playing adult softball for almost two decades as a part of The Wizards. As he grew older, he continued this pursuit through the coaching of youth baseball and basketball before eventually transitioning to golfing on the weekends.
In addition to playing and coaching, the watching and discussing of professional sports was another love. With fandoms ranging from the Boston Red Sox to the LA Lakers and throughout history from Jerry West to Kobe Bryant and from Fran Tarkenton to Tom Brady, he loved to applaud his teams; even if he was oftentimes too nervous to watch the actual games. His very favorite way to consume sports was to spend a day walking around a professional golf tournament, especially if Matt Kuchar was on the course.
His father, Leo, and his mother, Dorothy, predeceased Leo. His son Michael (mother Kathy Connelly) survives him, as do his daughters, Aisha and Gina (mother Maritza Cabrera). Leo is also survived by his brothers Joseph (wife Karen) and Donald (wife Susan), and his sister Terry Kren (husband Robert) as well as all of his nieces and nephews.
