Leo "Buddy" Stennett, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Graham Oaks Care Center in Graham, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home at 11:00 am, with Josh Hagle of Southside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Round Timber Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Buddy was born on July 4, 1936, to the late Dura Lee and Veda Mae (Aytes) Stennett. He was a graduate of Olney High School in 1956, where he was all-district in football and ran track. He helped to coach the football B team. Buddy married Vanice Branch on March 9, 1963, in Olney, and they spent sixty-one wonderful years together before she preceded him in death in May of 2024. Buddy served in Vietnam in the field artillery. He served his community as a deacon at Southside Baptist Church and was a retiree from Texas-New Mexico Power. Buddy enjoyed Golden Glove Boxing, hunting, fishing, and farming. He also loved being at the lake and would stay in the boat for hours, pulling all the kids on the tubes. He wouldn't stop until they were all worn out. Buddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was a man that held a special place in his heart for each and every one of his family members. He was a man who would put the needs of others before himself.

Buddy is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Lisa Self and husband Mark of Olney, Texas and Teresa McShan and husband Mike of Iowa Park, Texas; his grandchildren: Jeremy McShan and wife Julie, Jace McShan, and Kaylah Hampton and husband Brian; his great grandchildren, Leigha Hampton, Logan Hampton, Lylah Hampton, and Ella McShan, and his sister Naomi Elliott of Paris, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vanice (Branch) Stennett, and his siblings Arthur Lee Stennett, James D. Stennett, Jackie Fern Morgan, and Gwen Faye Crosthwait.

The family would like to thank the teams at Graham Oaks Care Center and Beyond Faith Hospice for the dedicated care they provided him with the last few years.
