Bobby Gene Stennett, Jr. of Cordele passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Crisp Regional Hospital at the age of 57. Born in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of Gayle Hausman and the late Bobby Gene Stennett, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, James H. Hausman; grandparents, Albert and Ruth Stennett, and W. Carl and Mary Edna Gohagan; and uncles, Carl Wayne Gohagan, David Kimbro and Larry Rivenbark. Bobby spent 13 distinguished years in the United States Air Force. He received many awards including the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Commendation Medal, Longevity Service Award, the Training Ribbon, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, the Outstanding Unit Award, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. After his tour of duty in the Air Force, Bobby was the IT Director for the City of Cordele and a member of Open Door Assembly of Arabi. Bobby loved the outdoors, and was always happy to be soaking up the sun at the beach or out fishing. He also enjoyed the fellowship and fun time while grilling for family and friends in the backyard. He also loved Alabama football, and it was at the top of his list of things he loved to do. Bobby is survived by his wife of eight years, Gaye Terry Stennett of Cordele; his mother, Gayle Hausman of Enterprise, AL; his step-mother, Lynn Stennett of Springfield; a daughter, Sharla Ham (Jacob) of Killeen,TX; one brother, Toby Stennett (Tammy) of Enterprise, AL; two step-brothers, Wayne Hausman (Laurel) and Jimmy Hausman (Sue Ellen); three aunts, Billie Rivenbark, Leeila Kimbro and Joyce Gohagan; and his faithful companion, his furbaby, Archie. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, September 26, 2025 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with burial following in Andersonville National Cemetery. The family will meet with friends prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
