Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and dear friend, Leon Aleman Hernandez, and affectionately known as "Mr. H," entered eternal rest on the 17th day of April in San Antonio, Texas. He was 76 years of age. Leon was born in Converse, Texas on June 28, 1948 to the late parents: Eulogio and Inocencia Hernandez.
Leon had a loving spirit. He was always a hard worker and very generous of his time. His willingness to help people in need was something he took pride in as well as being a great leader.
In 1972, Leon married his soulmate, Ernestina Alvarado. They shared a beautiful union of 52 years, and raised their only son together.
Aside from marriage, Leon was not only a devoted husband, but a loving father, and a great leader who led his family well. He was family oriented and it was always important to him to be with his family. He enjoyed spending time fishing with his son, Leon Jr., hunting, and watching an exciting game of the Dallas Cowboys.
Leon worked in the civil service industry as a maintenance technician for many years. However, his last position held, he served as bus driver for the Judson school district, where he proudly looked forward to transporting the younger children and those with special needs.
Leon's absence is heartfelt and his physical presence will be dearly missed.
Leon was greeted in heaven by his parents.
He leaves to cherish in his memory, his beloved wife, Ernestina Hernandez, his son: Leon A. Hernandez, (Doris), 4 grandchildren: Leon M. Hernandez III (Tabitha), Jonathan M. Hernandez (Hope), Joel Lee Hernandez, and Sophia M. Hernandez; 4 great-grandchildren: Azaleah Hernandez, Maya Hernandez, Zinnia Hernandez, and Jaxon Hernandez, all whom affectionately called him "Grandpa Leon," his siblings: Gaytano Hernandez, Porfirio Hernandez (Irene), Phillip Hernandez (Celia), Panfilita Hernandez, and Gina Groome (Patrick); and numerous other close relatives and friends.
