Leona Ammons Obituary

Leona was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Friendship Presbyterian Church, where she served the Lord faithfully. She always had a house full of people which she enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father Mildred Landing and George Whitaker; sisters, Dale Whitaker and Betty Hunt; brother, Charles Whitaker and her husband of 48 years, Mitchell Ammons.
Surviving are her eight children, Terri (Bobby), Vicki, Sandy (Eddie), Kenneth (Marybeth), Brenda (Steve), Karen (Robert), Becky (Rodney) and Kevin (Erica); along with 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and sister, Gloria Gass.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 from 11:00-12:00 at Friendship Presbyterian Church in Black Mountain. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Bob Drake officiating. Burial will be held at Whitaker Cemetery in Barnardsville, NC.
