Leonard I. Waguespack, Sr. passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 86 years of age. He is survived by his two children, Rebecca W. Madere (Billy) and Leonard Waguespack Jr. (Mary). He is survived by three grandsons, Logan J. Waguespack, William P. Madere, and Jude R. Madere, and a sister Theresa W. Bishop. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Irene N. Waguespack, and his parents, George J. Waguespack Sr., and Theresa R. Waguespack. He is also preceded in death by his siblings; Velma W. Bridevaux, George J. Waguespack Jr., Edgar R. Waguespack Sr., James A. Waguespack Sr., and Sylvia W. Ritter. Leonard was born in New Orleans and grew up in Old Jefferson. He served in the Louisiana Air National Guard, 159th fighter wing out of Belle Chasse Louisiana, and worked for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 40 years. Leonard and Irene resided in Metairie for 40-plus years before moving to Covington to live out their retirement. His hobbies included woodworking, painting, and gardening. He enjoyed sharing blueberries and satsumas from his garden. He was a jack of all trades performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, tiling, flooring, painting, and even cutting down trees. Lenny really enjoyed dancing. He and Irene loved attending parties and receptions and watching LSU football and baseball games with family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday September 10, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home 75212 Hwy 437 Covington, Louisiana 70435 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until service time. A private interment will be held at Garden of Memories in Metairie, Louisiana
