LeRoy Anderson Benson, age 86 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025. LeRoy went peacefully home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on a Sunday morning, his favorite day of the week. He was born on September 17, 1939 in American Falls, Idaho to the late Frank Lynn and Eleanor A. Anderson Benson. LeRoy graduated from Caldwell High School in Caldwell, Idaho, The University of Idaho with BS in Electrical Engineering (1965) and Dallas Theological Seminary (1969). He worked 15 years as full-time missionary for Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU), full-time staff at the University of Wisconsin, and International Headquarters in California and Vienna Austria. Following his missionary work LeRoy also was employed for 15 years as a math teacher in Los Angeles Unified School District, California.
LeRoy was an active member of Cole Community Church (Living Stones Church), Boise Idaho, and loved to read the Bible, talk politics, and travel and stay active, visiting family and friends regularly. He was an avid skier and adventurer throughout his life and a loyal Boise State Broncos Fan. He battled Alzheimer’s later in life until his passing.
In addition to his parents, LeRoy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eben L. Benson and Martha Jane Savage Field.
LeRoy leaves to cherish his memory his brother, F. Lynn Benson and his wife Carol R. Benson; nephews, Michael Benson, and Richard Benson; nieces, Kathryn (Benson) Letellier and Holly (Benson) Wampler; as well as eighteen great-nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Services will be at the 2pm Mountain Time on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Falls View Cemetery, 2950 Kingdom Hall Road, American Falls, Idaho 83211.
Memorials may be made to the Dallas Theological Seminary in memory of Leroy Benson, Class of 1969 (https://secure.dts.edu/tribute).
