Les was born on a blistering hot day in Evansville, Indiana on July 21, 1936.
He was preceded by his wonderful wife of 55 years, Betty Jane Hammer.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Steve & Ashley Hammer and grandchildren Will and Addie Hammer.
Les graduated from old Evansville Central High School "Magna Cum Wood Shop" in 1954.
He was Honorably discharged from the Marines as a Sargeant in 1961. He served 3 years as a metalsmith in the USMC Air Wing in Cherry Point, North Carolina.
His business career spanned some 65 years and was dedicated to the founding and growth of Ohio Valley Sound, Ohio Valley Communications and Ohio Valley Investments. He was a pioneer in the communications contracting business in Evansville for 40 years and the family transitioned to real estate holdings over the last quarter century.
He grew up in the 40's and 50's under humble circumstances, was able to travel the world, laugh and love. A great life!
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville.
Private Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.
