With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Lewis Blauer Meiners, who peacefully departed this life on April 7, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on November 9, 1933, in Burley, Idaho, to Carl and Alice Meiners, Lewis was a man whose greatest joy in life was his family. His love for them was unwavering, and his legacy of devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife of many years, Joy L. Meiners; his five children, Monica (Kip Koon), Lisa Kay, Linda (Tim Stone), Steven (Cecilia), and Paul (Valdriane); 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Donnis (Bernadine) and Myron (Eileen); his sister Lily (Dave) Fife; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Carl, Robert, and Paul; sisters Ethel (Otis) Orton, June (Phares) Horman, Josephine (Russell) Graham, and Mary (Paul) Mertzenich; and his son-in-law Theron Dickerson.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lewis served two proselyting missions-one in Germany and later, with his wife Joy, in Maui, Hawaii. Together, they were sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple, marking the beginning of their eternal bond.
Lewis was also a proud Army Veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah, and later attended Brigham Young University, completing his degree at Weber State University.
Lewis had a remarkable work ethic, which he often attributed to his early years working on his brother-in-law Otis Orton's farm in Heyburn, Idaho. He went on to have a long and successful career as an aerospace engineer at Thiokol, where he contributed greatly to the field.
A lover of the outdoors, Lewis enjoyed fishing, hiking, water skiing, and any activity that allowed him to experience nature. Family vacations were a special time for him, whether it was trips to Lagoon, Disneyland, Yellowstone National Park, or visiting extended family. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
Lewis passed away surrounded by those who loved him. Though his presence will be sorely missed, his memory will remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, April 15th, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am, followed by a celebration of his life at 11:00 am at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, Idaho. Interment will follow at the Plano Cemetery.
