Lila Rice Hudgens, 79, of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024, at her residence in Harrisburg. She was the youngest girl of 11 children.

Mrs. Hudgens was born May 28, 1945, in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Earl Bland Rice and the late Ethel Herron.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Mr. Billy Eugene Hudgens.

Her favorite pastime was watching the birds outside her window, especially the cardinals. She also loved gardening and spending with her family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Covenant Church of Harrisburg in Harrisburg officiated by Rev. Gene Turner. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park Harrisburg at 12015 University City Blvd., Charlotte.

Survivors include son, Michael Hudgens of Harrisburg, NC, son, Ricky (Amy) Hudgens of Harrisburg son, Garland T. Hudgens of Harrisburg; grandchildren Kristi Goins, Ricky (Cori) Hudgens of Atlanta, Dillon Hudgens of Harrisburg; great-grandchildren Lila Goins, Emily Goins, Elizabeth Goins and one great-great-grandson Asher Lee White.

Memorials made be made Covenant Church of Harrisburg or her favorite charity, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
