Lila May Rickert

Lila M. Rickert, 82 of Birnamwood, died on Friday, March 15, 2024, at home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice.
Lila was born on November 19, 1941, in the town of Pella, the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Alma (Pankow) Malueg. Lila married LeRoy Rickert on June 29, 1968, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mattoon. Together they farmed in the town of Hutchins until retirement in 1999.
Lila is survived by two daughters, Sarah (Steven) Matsche of Hatley and Jennifer (Dewey) Tousey of Birnamwood; two grandchildren, Dylan Matsche and Paula Tousey; two sisters, Kathy Malueg of Tigerton and Linda Rickert of Mattoon; two brothers, Sonny (Jane) Malueg of Caroline and Merlyn Malueg of Tigerton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Janice Malueg, Darlene Heins, Leon Chroge, Lester Rickert, Nancy (Robert) Grunewald, Keith (Lori) Rickert and Doug Rickert. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; parents; son, Paul; three brothers, Vilas, Larry and Elroy Malueg; sister, Sylvia Block; niece, Cherrie Malueg; nephew, Steven Rickert and brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick Rickert, Elmer Block, Emeline Chroge, Malcolm Heins, Randy Rickert and Dale (Janise) Rickert.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mattoon. Rev. Steven Pockat will preside. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 9 AM until the time of service at the church.
