The legacy of our cherished Lillian Ruth Sims starts in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on April 1, 1923. She gently left this world on April 26, 2025, at the impressive age of 102. Lillian embodied grace, wisdom, and limitless love; her life is a testament to resilience, kindness, and the lasting strength of family.

Lillian was born on April 1, 1923, to Richard Langley and Mother Tennie Langley Willis. She grew up with a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her.

Lillian's life was marked by love and dedication. She married her high school sweetheart, Matthew Sims, in 1941, and together they forged a life filled with laughter, hard work, and unwavering support for their family. Their union was blessed with two daughters, who later provided them with two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lillian took immense pride in her family and valued every moment spent with them.

Lillian is preceded in death by both parents, Richard Langley and Mother Tennie Langley Willis; husband, Matthew Sims; brothers, Cecil Langley and Henry Charles Langley; sisters, Elgie Walker, Florence Watson, Sarah Langley, Margaret Beatty and Ophelia Evans; nephew, Floyd Cullors, Jr., and nieces, Margaret Harnage, Barbara Evans, Bettye Wheeler, Susie Cullors and Beverly Willis.

Lillian is survived by her beloved daughters, Dianne Sims Hoskins of Fate, Texas, and Jean Fuller of Duncanville, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron Addison and Melody Hoskins; great-grandchildren, Cynnaron Addison, Alexis Addison, Zachary Mumphrey, and Penelope Mumphrey; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Her memory and legacy will be cherished by all who knew her.

A woman of many talents, Lillian was known for her impeccable style, her ability to turn a simple meal into a feast, and her wisdom. Her home was always open, and her kitchen was the heart of countless family gatherings. Her stories of the past, filled with humor and wisdom, will be treasured by generations to come.

She was a devoted and unwavering fan of the Dallas Cowboys, passionately cheering for them through every game, win or lose. Her love for the team was evident in the way she proudly wore their colors and celebrated their victories as if they were her own. Beyond football, she also had a deep admiration for professional tennis, finding joy in the elegance and intensity of the sport. She would eagerly follow tournaments, marveling at the skill and determination of the players, and often found herself captivated by the thrilling matches that unfolded on the court, given that she played tennis in high school.

Lillian’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Christ, where she found solace and community. Her unwavering belief in the goodness of people and her steadfast optimism were an inspiration to all who knew her.

As we bid farewell to Lillian, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will continue to guide us. Lillian Ruth Sims will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Rest in peace, “Honey”.
