Lillie Dale Denmark Knight was born on October 23, 1941, to the late James L. Denmark and Henrietta Speed Denmark in
Fort Pierce, Florida. She was the last of fourteen children.
Lillie spent her early childhood in Fort Pierce and later went to Washington D.C. at the age of 12 to stay with family and returned to Florida. She attended elementary and middle school in Washington D.C. and graduated from Lincoln Park Academy in 1960. She then went on to Indian River College to pursue her degree in Education. She worked over 37 years in the school system and retired in 1998 from Chester A. Moore Elementary as a teacher's aide, substitute teacher, and a librarian. At the age of 16, she worked at a local grocery store on 17th Street where she met her prince, Issac H. Knight, who worked at the Packing house carrying bags of oranges. In 1965, Lillie and Issac became husband and wife getting married on her parent's front doorstep and lived on to be married for over 64 years. To this union, they welcomed two beautiful children Tiffany and Cedric Knight.
Lillie was a God fearing woman during her time here on earth. At the age of 12, she gave her life to her Lord and Savior. Upon her journey, Lillie became a member of New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Eugene Knight. She did her Godly deeds on the usher board and mother's board. Later, Lillie met Kenneth and Wesley Bell creating a church of their own using each one of their homes. Immanuel Full Gospel was built soon after and Lillie spent her time serving and devoting her life to her church on the mother's board, usher board, and the church coordinating team, using her gift of crafting the bulletin boards, parade, and floats. Lillie was also a member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc. for over 30 years.
On October 6, 2025, God told another soldier well done, and brought Lillie home. God gently closed her eyes for her eternal rest to meet her husband and family once again. She was preceded in death by her husband, Issac H. Knight; her parents, James L. Denmark and Henrietta S. Denmark; siblings, Maggie L. Denmark Grier, Aaron Denmark, Willis Denmark, James Denmark, Connell Denmark, John Denmark, Ruby Boston, Emma Morris, Bernice McDonald, Corine Newsome, Clara Kleckley, Juanita Ganious, and Theda Denmark who are welcoming her home.
