Lillie Emily McKeown

Mrs. Lillie Emily McKeown, age 95, of Newnan, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, at her home. She was born on December 29, 1929, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Lola M. Betsill and Mason C. Clemons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald McKeown, son, Sam Jones and brothers Tony Clemons and Ed Clemons. Emily grew up in College Park, GA, and was a 1947 graduate of North Clayton High School. She went on to graduate from Atlanta Beauty College, where she trained as a cosmetologist. With her passion for beauty and care for others, Emily proudly owned and operated her own beauty salon for many years. Beyond her career, Emily was a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and creating ceramics. She was also active in the Humane Society, reflecting her lifelong love of animals. Known lovingly by her grandchildren as "Grandma with the dogs", Emily always had a house full of her beloved cats and dogs, who gave her love and companionship. Emily is survived by her children, Pat (Cindy) Jones, Dennis Jones, and Casey (Jenny) Jones; stepchildren, Joe (Lenora) McKeown and Terry McKeon; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who will forever cherish her memory. The funeral service celebrating Emily's life is Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan, with Pastor Eddie Clemons officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
