Linda Ann Coughlin (Yuhas), 65, of Surf City, NJ, passed away on October 18, 2022 at Southern Ocean Medical Center.
Linda grew up in East Brunswick, NJ as the oldest of three girls. She spent her time enjoying most of the small town activities, like sitting in the back of the family pickup truck to watch the Milltown fireworks with her sisters, Kathy and Debbie, and many friends. During their summer months they could almost always be found enjoying their backyard pool. Shortly after graduating from high school, while working at the East Brunswick Public Library, she met and fell in love with Jim Coughlin. They would spend hours and hours with each other, often watching the Johnny Carson Show on the porch of her childhood home, or taking day trips to Belmar to enjoy the beach. Linda and Jim were married in 1980, and moved to several places in New Jersey and Florida while starting their young family. In 1994 they finally settled in Holmdel, NJ, where they resided for sixteen years and raised their two sons, James and Michael. Linda and Jim always enjoyed the beach lifestyle and in the summer of 2000 began spending their summers in Surf City, NJ, and ultimately Linda decided to make Surf City her full time residence in 2010.
While living in Holmdel, she was a proud member of several parent associations and clubs that helped the school her sons were attending. The Mother's Club of Christian Brother's Academy was one of her favorites and a primary source of enjoyment, activity, and community. She was also an active member of the Surf City Yacht Club with her late husband and enjoyed her many memories of fun times at the club. She was always busy, began playing golf after Jim's passing, and mastered the art of shopping for gifts to spoil her family with. Linda loved to travel with her family and the people she loved. She spent the last 10 years wintering in Naples, FL and thoroughly enjoyed traveling internationally or to tropical islands. Her favorite however, was to Colorado, to visit her sons, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. Linda, affectionately known as "Grandma CC", filled every moment of her time cherishing and spending it with her family. Linda was blessed later in life, and was fortunate enough to find Phil Pinkerton, a great companion. The two of them enjoyed life, traveled together and enjoyed so many similar interests.
Linda was also a great source of inspiration to all she met over her twenty-two years battling cancer, and she met every challenge with optimism and faith. She never let a day go by without remembering how blessed she was, and how fortunate she was to have a loving family and many friends by her side.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband James Coughlin, her parents, William and Mildred Yuhas, In-laws James and Mildred Coughlin, brother-in-law John Coughlin, and sister-in-law Denise Borgstede. Linda is survived by her sons, James Coughlin and Michael Coughlin, daughter-in-law Kathryn, granddaughter Adelyn, sisters Kathy Lynn and Debbie DePue, sister-in-law Maureen Coughlin, brothers-in-law Dave DePue and Russell Borgstede, and nine nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:30 pm at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 1119 Long Beach Blvd., (corner of 12th St & Blvd), Ship Bottom, NJ 08008.
