Linda La Due Hilbert, a beloved art teacher, accomplished artist, and resident of Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at the age of 64.
Linda's life was a vibrant tapestry woven from artistic pursuits, a love of travel, and a deep connection to her community. A graduate of William Allen High School, where she was the first recipient of the Key to the City of Allentown, a design she created, Linda went on to graduate magna cum laude from the Temple Tyler School of Art.
Her wanderlust spirit led her to explore various parts of the country before settling back in Allentown. Linda called places like Anchorage, Alaska; Davenport, Iowa; Monterey, California; and Falls Church, Virginia home for a time. She even ventured overseas, living in Italy and Belgium, experiences that undoubtedly enriched her artistic perspective. Her fluency in French and Italian, gained during her time abroad, further broadened her horizons.
Linda's passion for art permeated all aspects of her life. She was both a student and teacher at the Baum School of Art, generously sharing her talents through private lessons at her home and by inspiring young minds at Parkland High School, where she served as a dedicated art teacher until her retirement.
Linda's artistic influence extended beyond the classroom. Her work graced the stages of Musikfest, and her creativity left an enduring mark on the city she called home. Beyond her artistic achievements, Linda was a cherished member of the Lehigh Valley Scottish Society, reflecting her love for Scottie dogs.
She is survived by her mother, Elinor La Due, and her brothers, Roger and Robert La Due and his wife Natalie. Her father, Roger La Due Sr., preceded her in death in 2007.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 29th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home located at 1601 Hamilton St, Allentown, PA 18102 and will be followed by a short service starting at 11:00 AM. Internment will follow at Grandview Cemetery at 2735 Walbert Ave, Allentown, PA 18104

Linda was a beautiful person who brought beauty into the world. Her paintings are museum quality and she shared her secrets with her students.
I first met her when she was getting certified to teach and she put her unique spin on every ceramics project. I recall having a nice chat about the future while she turned bowls upside down into lovely lanterns for her patio.
Linda was a force of nature and I cannot believe she is gone. I can only imagine how poor Henry is taking it.
My deepest sympathy to her family and other friends. She leaves a huge empty space.

Linda´s passion for art has left a legacy in this world. Her knowledge and experience truly touched many young lives. Although she will be dearly missed, it is comforting to know her suffering is behind her and she is painting with Titian.
