Linda Sue Hunter passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 5, 1949, in Springfield, Missouri, to Carolyn Baker (Ellingsworth) and Richard Melton, Linda was the beloved daughter and the oldest of six siblings.
She graduated from Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri, in 1967, and went on to build a fulfilling life rooted in love, family, and a remarkable career. On December 7, 1979, she married Carlos Hunter of Greenwood, Indiana, and together they shared many wonderful years.
Linda was a devout Christian and an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood, where she sang joyfully in the church choir and found great strength in her faith and fellowship.
She is survived by her son Daniel (Karen) Neill of Overland Park, Kansas; Virginia (Thomas) Walker of Martinsville, Indiana; Sandy Hunter and Dennis Hunter, both of Greenwood, Indiana. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Freda Leighton, Debbie Henry, Roger Melton, Rick Melton, and Scott Melton. Linda was preceded in death by Phillip Hunter.
She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren-especially Aidan Neill and Jake Walker, who held a special place in her heart. Linda also had great love for Jake's wife, Chelsea, and their children, Boyd, Evan, and Banner. She deeply loved and cherished her many cousins, nieces, and nephews, each of whom brought her joy throughout her life.
Professionally, Linda was a dedicated and highly successful Realtor, serving clients for over 35 years with ReMax and F.C. Tucker in the Greenwood area. She also proudly served the state of Missouri before retiring.
Linda's legacy is one of faith, strength, kindness, and deep devotion to her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation hours will take place from 10-12 Noon, Friday, August 8, 2025, at Wilson St.Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main Street, Greenwood. A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon. She will be laid to rest at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a cancer research or dementia research organization of your choice. Online condolences may be shared with the Hunter family at www.stpierrefamilyfuneral.com.
