Linda Kinneman of Riceville, IA, passed away at age 71, on February 10, 2024, with her family by her side at Methodist Hospital. She fought a courageous battle with peritoneal cancer, which is a relatively rare cancer that develops in the lining of the abdomen and has a life expectancy of about one year. Linda survived over three years, and it was hard to tell how sick she actually was. It was her wish to donate her body for research, hoping to aid others affected by this disease.
Linda Kay Ring was born April 14, 1952, to Clarence and Edith (Denny) Ring in Riceville. She graduated from Riceville Community School in 1970 and immediately moved to Waukegan, IL, to live with her older sister, Beverly. Later that year, Linda returned to Riceville and married Russell Fritcher. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Shannon, Shawn, Heidi, and Holli.
In 1984, Linda married Larry Kinneman. Linda and Larry were blessed with another child, Lacey.
Linda was a people person whose passions were her family, spending time with friends, and making new friends. Her biggest life decisions were driven by the needs of her children and grandchildren. She loved flowers, traveling, and politics. She had an artistic soul and was a master with a paintbrush in her hand. Highlights of her work life included working at Andy's Mini Mart, running a painting business with her close friend, enjoying her flower shop, and working in the railroad industry with her husband, Larry.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Clarence and Edith, and her siblings, Richard Jones, Patricia (Jones) Picklemann, and Thomas Jones.
She is survived by her children Shannon (Jodi) of Stewartville, MN; Shawn (Emily) of St. Charles, MN; Heidi (Casey) Christensen of Slater, IA; Holli (Derek) Staley of Las Vegas, NV; Lacey Kinneman of Riceville, IA; thirteen grandchildren (Jadyn, Izak, Cecilia, Easton, Nora, Gabriel, August, Henry, Mya, Izzaraeh, Louis, Bridget, and Jazmine); her sister Beverly (Jones) Valencic of Waukegan, IL, and brother William (Cathy) Ring of Manly, IA.
Linda will be remembered for her kind heart, resilience, and passion for life.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held at the 10 Hole in Riceville, IA, on April 13, 2024, from 2-4 pm.

I got to know Linda when I moved back to Riceville in 2016 to build my THOW. I moved in with my Mom so lived across the street. I spent many evenings and weekend afternoons at Linda´s simply hanging out, talking and being ourselves with each other. Linda quickly became a very important part of my live. I love her and miss her terribly! I am so very grateful for her friendship! She will always be a part of me and of all of us who loved her.
RIP dear friend!

Such a special lady. We met under terrible circumstances with the passing of John at the hospital. Her compassion and continued fight to care for her family while battling the terrible disease she was fighting is inspiring. Every time I saw her she was full of smiles and love. A classy lady and I am honored to know her. Rest well and pain free beautiful lady. We will make sure Jazmine Kay remembers how wonderful her Grandma was. My prayers to all of the family.

It was priceless sharing the experience of two grandma´s being there for the birth of our granddaughter Jazmine her 13th grandchild and my 3rd. She had a procedure that day but still made it to the hospital and never stopped to think of herself until I told her to rest on the couch and when she laid down the couch started rolling toward a tall metal shelf...we couldn´t stop laughing. It was my honor to meet such a strong woman and blessed to share time with her
