It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Linda Lou (Howard) James, age 72, who left us peacefully on September 15, 2024.
Born on July 21, 1952, in Hartford, she was the daughter of Henry and Pearl (Johnson) Howard. She graduated from The Norwich Free Academy in 1970, and obtained an Associate of Arts degree from Mohegan Community College in 1989.
Linda was a vibrant soul whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Over the years Linda worked as a Certified Nurses Aid in numerous facilities. A position in which she took great pride in giving compassionate patient care before accepting a position as a cage cashier and eventually a poker dealer at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Linda was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend leaving a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by her children, Patrick James and fiancee Brandie Frechette of Montville, Jason James formerly of Montville and her beloved grandchildren, Emma Bandholtz, Nicholas James, Liam James, Liberty Frechette and Graham Frechette who will carry forward her spirit of love and compassion. Predeceased by her sister Carol Jane (Howard) Main, her cherished memories will also be held by her nieces and nephews Thomas E Main Jr, Timothy Main, Tracy Gordon, Tricia Grabowski, great nieces and nephews Ryan and Jesse George, Logan and Summer Gordon, Ashley and Anthony Main as well as a host of friends who will remember her for her infectious laughter and unwavering support.
Throughout her life, Linda always loved being on or near any beach. Linda was passionate about crocheting, cats, horses, the Boston Red Sox as well as the New England Patriots and dedicated her time and effort to anyone that needed a helping hand.
Linda was a proud and practicing member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Norwich, CT. The family would like to thank Pastor Eric, Pastor Mary and all of the parishioners who have helped support Linda over the years. We were blessed to have Linda for nearly 6 additional years following a double lung transplant at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA on December 5th, 2018. The family would also like to thank and recognize the medical team she had there for their truly amazing skill and care.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held on December 5th 2024 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Norwich, CT at a time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to St. Mark Lutheran Church 248 Broadway Norwich, CT 06360 or to Brigham and Women's Hospital,

Linda Lou of `52, how do you do? A favorite line used by Linda´s friends growing up at Gardner Lake. Despite Linda´s medical challenges, she always had a strong, forward momentum spirit. Patrick, you are a good man and were always wonderful to your mom, and your children always brought great joy to her. Rest in peace, Lin, and say hi to Carol for all of us.
With love, Kate & Len
