Ann was born in Waterproof, Louisiana to Claude Ezelle James and Dot James on October 29, 1951. She attended Waterproof High School and graduated with a BS degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. This started her on a long and successful career as an educator for over 40 years. She retired from teaching at Airline High School in 2016, after many years there.
Besides spending time with her family and many friends, Ann had a love for travel. She was always looking for the bluest water and the most beautiful beaches. She touched many lives with her outgoing personality, generosity, and passion for life. Her passing has left a hole in our hearts.
Ann is preceded in death by her mother and father, Ezelle and Dot James. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 25 years, Thomas Merritt; her children, Jay Dauenhauer and wife, Ashley, Jennifer Gray Warren and husband, Chris and Jordan Beeman and husband, Dennis. She is also survived by her brother, Bobby James and her grandchildren, whom she adored, and who all called her their “Lovie”.
The family of Ann Merritt wishes to express our sincere thanks for the wonderful help and loving care given by The Cottages at The Glen, Lifepath Hospice and Private Angels of Care.
