Linda Marie Slinkard, of Olympia, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on December 11, 1950, in Tacoma, Washington, to Fred and Mary Hoiland, she was a graduate of Wilson High School in Tacoma and remained in the area until 2000, when she moved to Olympia.
In July of 1975, Linda married Luther Slinkard, and together they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and shared passions. Linda was a dedicated entrepreneur, owning and operating several small businesses over the years, including Backacre Rabbitry, Backacre Wormery, Backacre Baits, and Angels Pet Rescue.
Linda had a zest for life and a personality that drew people in. She enjoyed fishing, camping, taking long drives, and the occasional trip to a casino. Horses held a special place in her heart, and she was always happiest surrounded by animals, family, and good conversation. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making others feel welcome.
A member of the First United Methodist Church in Olympia, Linda found strength and community in her faith. Family was central to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
She is survived by her son, Christian Slinkard of Tenino, Washington, and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Hoiland; her brother, Jim Hoiland; and her husband, Luther Slinkard.
A memorial service will be held on August 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1224 Legion Way SE, Olympia, WA 98501.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christian Slinkard to help support funeral expenses.
