Obituary for Linda Teston

July 28, 1941 – July 11, 2025

With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, the family of Linda Teston announces her peaceful passing on July 11, 2025, following a courageous battle with long-term illness. She was 83.

Granny, as she was known to most, was born in Sylvania, Georgia, but was always looking for the next adventure or family member in need. She made a lot of friends along the way and left her mark on many hearts as well.

She was a woman of strength, unwavering love, and a nurturing spirit that radiated to all who knew her. She carried the values of faith, family, and kindness in every role she embraced-daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She was full of life and laughter. She enjoyed spending time with family and had a gift for making those around her feel seen, heard, and loved. She took pride in the small things that made life beautiful-a warm piece of homemade pound cake, a pan full of fresh shelled purple hull peas, or just sitting in her garden watching the sun set.

Though our world feels dimmer without her light, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved so dearly. Her smile, quick wit, and generous heart will be forever missed, and her spirit lives on in every act of love we carry forward.

Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Troy Padgett; her devoted daughter, Vicky Padgett (Mark); her beloved parents, Essie and Gordon Teston; her cherished siblings, Clem Teston (Carol), Jimmy Teston (Hazel), Jean Lowery (Danny), and her great-grandson, Jayden Cunningham. Though her heart carried the weight of these losses, Linda remained a steady and gracious presence for her family.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughter, Candice Summey, and son-in-law, Robert Summey; daughter Diane Dorsey, her granddaughters, Kristen Werts (Joseph), Robin Brown (Danny) and Jama Cunningham, grandsons Ryan, Aaron and George Flowers (Kara) and her treasured great-grandchildren, Makena, Josey, Christopher, Brittany and Alyssa. Linda is also survived by her baby brother, Mac Teston (Trudy), along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who adored her deeply. The family would also like to thank Ina Huffman, who was there for her when she needed a friend.

A private family service will be held to celebrate Linda's life and honor her wishes for a peaceful goodbye. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you simply extend kindness in her memory, as she did every day of her life.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
