Linda Faye Thorne, 74, of Marion, passed away peacefully at 3:38 am on Friday, November 7, 2025, in her home.
Born on July 10, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Linda was the daughter of Edward and Gloria Dinse. She dedicated her life to education and learning, earning her Master's degree from Taylor University and serving as a librarian throughout her career--a role that reflected her love of knowledge, children, and community. Her final professional chapter was as the Director of the Upland Library, where her leadership and warmth left a lasting impact.
Linda was a passionate traveler, often collecting children's books from her journeys. Each evening, she would read these stories aloud to her husband, Gary, turning bedtime into a cherished ritual filled with imagination and love--something he will miss deeply.
Linda was also "an amateur radio operator". She loved spending some of her free time connecting with others through amateur radio.
A gifted textile artist and certified Master Gardener, Linda cultivated beauty in both fabric and soil. She was a firm believer in "eating close to the ground," living with intention and care for the earth. Her two beloved poodles, Lucy and Abby, were constant companions and sources of joy.
Even through her battle with cancer and the pain it brought, Linda found a way to laugh each day. Her resilience, humor, and grace were a testament to her spirit. A woman of faith, she attended church regularly and lived her beliefs through kindness, creativity, and generosity.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gary D. Thorne of Marion; her daughter, Amy; her four cherished grandchildren; her siblings, Tom (Johnna) Dinse, Steve Dinse, and Maggie Honig; her step-daughter, Natalie Lynn of Greentown, Indiana; and a wide circle of dear friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gloria Dinse; her daughter, Shannon; and her brother, Tim Dinse.
Linda's legacy lives on in the stories she shared, the gardens she grew, and the lives she touched with her laughter, love, and unwavering spirit.
In accordance with the family's wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
