Lino Leon Martinez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, in Mathis, Texas, at the age of 66. He was born on August 7, 1958, to Lino and Ester Martinez. Lino was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with his warm heart and infectious laughter.
Throughout his life, Lino was known for his kindness and welcoming nature, always making others feel at ease in his presence. He had a great sense of humor that brought joy to countless gatherings and family celebrations. His attention and devotion to his wife, Rayelia, were truly commendable; they were inseparable, sharing every moment and adventure together, embodying the essence of partnership and love.
Lino cherished fishing, often seen with a rod in hand, casting out into the waters as he embraced the tranquility of nature. Those weekends spent by the shore or on a boat not only brought him peace but also strengthened his bond with family, as memories were woven into each fishing trip taken with loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Rayelia Martinez; Daughters, Monica Cruz, Cathy (Edwardo) Cadena; Son, Ernesto (Pauline) Cruz; Brother, Andy (Shana) Martinez; grandchildren, Marcus, Alyssa, angel, Joe Henry, Isaac, Ian, Caleb; Great Grandchild, Roman Isaac Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews. Lino’s legacy will be carried on through the love he cultivated within his family and the values he instilled in each of them. His passing leaves a profound void in their hearts, yet they find comfort in the abundant memories created throughout his lifetime.
Visitation will be at 5:00 pm and Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed interment at Descanso Eterno II.
