Lisa Lizabeth (Creekmur) Clair, 65, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on October 23, 2025. Born in Battle Creek, Michigan on February 24, 1960, Lisa lived a life filled with laughter, kindness, and devotion to her family, friends, and students.
She was the beloved daughter of Harold H. and A. Joan (Robbins) Creekmur, who preceded her in death. Lisa is survived by her three daughters, Morgyn (Eric) Tucker, McKenzie Clair, and Renee (Trent) Larm; her grandchildren, Avery, Shea, and Luke Tucker, and Lena and Keira Larm; her siblings, Laura Cable, Layne (William Jr.) Ticknor, and Brent Creekmur; as well as her former husband, Jim Clair, and extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A 1978 graduate of Pennfield Schools, Lisa went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education and Speech and Language Pathology & Audiology from Western Michigan University. She dedicated her career to helping others find their voice — beginning as a speech therapist in Covert Public Schools, later with Battle Creek Public Schools, and lastly through the Calhoun Intermediate School District, serving students in both the Battle Creek and then Lakeview School Districts. After retiring in 2018, she moved to Odessa, Florida. Later moving to Tampa, Florida, she enjoyed many sunny days by the water.
Lisa’s compassion and creativity shone in her work and in her relationships. Known for her sharp wit and infectious sense of humor, she made friends easily and had a special gift for making others laugh. She often went above and beyond for her students, always finding small, meaningful ways to brighten their days.
She loved being outdoors — especially at the beach — and found joy in traveling, reading, writing poetry, cooking, baking, and tending her flower garden. Some of her happiest moments were spent hosting family birthdays and holiday gatherings. Lisa’s most cherished times were spent with her daughters and she was deeply proud of the strong, independent women they’ve become.
Lisa grew up as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Battle Creek and was an active member of the Junior League of Battle Creek. She also served on many educational committees through the Calhoun Intermediate School District, always striving to make a positive impact on her community.
A celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in her memory.
