Lisa Ann Thieneman, age 60, passed away on Sunday, June 15th, 2025. Born in Louisville on November 17th, 1964, she was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Thieneman.
Lisa attended Pitt Academy and graduated from Tully High School. She worked at a fast food restaurant and her family's greenhouse business. Lisa began her time at St. Mary's Center in Middletown in 1992 until the COVID lockdown restrictions in 2020. Through St. Mary's Center, Lisa participated in the annual JamFest, becoming the first special needs team to do so. She loved square dancing and could easily step in and dance as "George" if there was a shortage of guy dancers! She also participated in Special Olympics bowling. Lisa was the "Ambassador of St. Mary's," as she was VERY involved in activities, fundraising and planning events of all nature at the center. Lisa's birthday was always a "national holiday" that was celebrated for at least a week, with a different theme every year. Lisa loved her UK Wildcats, but would not turn down an invitation to any ballgame, especially when the Louisville Bats played. She also loved a good, cold beer – even if it was non-alcoholic.
After her mother passed in 2015, Lisa joined the Dreams With Wings family in the residential housing and day program. Many thanks to Michelle and Marie who were a major part of Lisa's Dream With Wings family.
We will be forever in debt to both St. Mary's Center and Dreams With Wings.
The family would also like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Seneca Place where Lisa resided for the past 11 months. They are also grateful for the emergency team at Baptist Health Louisville.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Kathy and Steve; and sister-in-law, Cathy.
Left to cherish his memory are her siblings, Peggy, Michael, Marty (Rachel), Charlie (Judith), Mary Carmel (Rick), Kevin (Kim); our adopted "sister," Robinah; and her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18th, 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. 40205. A service to celebrate her life will be at 10 am on Thursday, June 19, 2025, also at Highlands. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either St. Mary's Center or Dreams With Wings.
