Lloyd Johnson Sr., lovingly known as "Lucky" by his family and friends, passed away on August 18th, 2025, joining his beloved children, Allison Bernice and Lloyd Jr., in eternal rest. Lloyd's warm and engaging personality touched the lives of everyone he met.
Born on September 22, 1948, in Oxford, Mississippi, Lloyd was the youngest child of Willie and Ida Bernice Johnson, who have also passed. He completed his education within the Oxford Public School System and pursued further studies beyond high school.
In 1969, Lloyd embarked on a dedicated career at Mead Packaging, where he worked with unwavering commitment until his retirement after 38 years.
Lloyd embraced his faith early in life in Oxford, Mississippi, and later became a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta.
While in Atlanta, balancing work and studies, Lloyd met the love of his life, Opal Pagan, on the campus of Atlanta University. Their relationship blossomed into a loving courtship and culminated in their marriage in 1982 in Atlanta. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Allison Bernice and Lloyd Jr. As a devoted father, Lloyd actively participated in his children's activities, including chaperoning, engaging in parent-teacher associations, and volunteering within the Atlanta Public School system.
Lloyd was also deeply involved in the Capital View Manor Neighborhood Planning Unit, driven by a genuine passion for community improvement.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Opal, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage; his sister, Willie Marie Brooks; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Lloyd will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
