Logan James Spencer
7/17/90 – 2/13/24 (33 years old)
Savannah, GA
Logan James Spencer, born on July 17, 1990, in Wyandotte, MI, passed away on February 13, 2024, in Savannah, GA at the age of 33. He was a cherished member of various communities. From his upbringing in New Bern, NC to his impactful presence in Savannah, Logan left a lasting impression.
He attended his grandfather's church school, Calvary Baptist, with his sisters and cousins from kindergarten through high school graduation. An avid sports fan, he played soccer and basketball – contributing to a national NCCSAA championship his senior year – and he was one of the first fans of the Savannah Bananas, with his daughter Sparrow becoming the very first Banana Baby. You could pick him out of the crowd due to his iconic hat.
His passion for service led him to mission trips to Africa and Haiti after high school, marking the start of his meaningful community work. Logan was deeply involved in many organizations:
• Free Masons
• Alee Shrine
• Order of Ashlars (founder)
• Order of Quetzalcoatl Tomochichi 1733 (secretary, Tlacuilo)
• Tybee Island Lodge 762 F2 AM (secretary from 2017 – 2021)
• Alee Pirate Unit (secretary, December 2018 – December 2023)
• Savannah Banana host family since 2017
• Georgia Basic Law Enforcement Training Course (June 2019)
• SWAT Team Member/K9 Handler
• Corporal – Chatham County Sheriff
• Police Emerald Society of Southeast Georgia
• Charter member of the Alee Anglers
• From Shawn Young, the Helmsman of the order "Logan was the first pirate to be nominated by the public to be selected for membership to the Order of Leviathan"
• Co-Founder of the Scalawags
Always interested in law, Logan was involved in teen court in high school where he won the honor of top defense lawyer two years in a row in state competitions. He was friends with the judges, mayor and law enforcement in his hometown from a young age. This interest led to joining law enforcement as an adult. He was part of the graduating class BLTEC 317. His true desire however was always to be a pirate and lamented that he was born 200 years too late. He adored his family, friends, travel, adventure, all things pirate related and back scratches.
Logan is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill & Arlie Wingard and Jim & Marilyn Spencer and his uncles, Billy Wingard and Jerry Towne, aunts, Kathy Wilson and Doris Williams.
His legacy lives on through his children, Sparrow Annie and Ashton James, who were the greatest joys of his life. He was an amazing father, son and friend. He is survived by his parents, Jimë & Patti Spencer; his sisters, Jordan Spencer and Megan (Sullie) Sullivan, his precious puppy, Lola; former wife and mother of his children, Caroline Spencer; as well as his many loving extended family members and friends. His memory is honored by those who knew and cherished him.
Fair winds and following seas. Until we meet again.
The visitation for Logan will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 1821 Rhem Avenue in New Bern, NC on February 24, 2024, from 12PM – 2PM followed by the service and then interment at New Bern Memorial Cemetery at 1112 Chelsea Road, New Bern, NC.

Logan was an amazing young Man that we truly LOVED! Several years ago, we attended Tyler and Emily´s wedding at Tryon Palace! As we entered the venue my wife Lisa, was greeted almost immediately by Logan and he insisted that his Aunt Lisa save him a dance. Needless to say, one dance turned into several priceless cherished memories. To know Logan was to LOVE Logan, we will forever LOVE and miss you however, we WILL see you again in Heaven!
Love Aunt Lisa and Uncle Casey

I first met Logan at Basic Jail Officer Training in Savannah, GA. It was there where we shared our mutual bond with law enforcement. We worked well together as a team. We were very close. We worked at Chatham County Sheriff's Office together, and we were both promoted to Corporal together. When I left the Sheriff's Office, he always kept in touch with me to see how I was doing, and I'd do the same. He knew how to make you laugh and he cared for those around him. His smile always brightened the room. I'm devastated that he's gone, but I will always keep his memory alive.

Until I see again soon buddy, Sláinte.

I met Logan through Savannah Combat Club, but we shared stories of growing up in NC and a love of tattoos - he was always a light that brightened any room.
