Mrs. Lois B. Horne of Cross Hill, SC entered the kingdom of heaven on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 after a decline in health. She was with her loving family and friends in the final days of her life.

Lois B. Horne was born on January 18, 1934 in Union, SC to the late Nannie Mae Roark and Ralph Emerson Bolton. Lois Horne was the eldest of seven siblings; Cora (Leroy) Burgess, Annis Burgess, R.E. (Mary) Bolton, Frank (Debbie) Bolton, Juanita Bolton, and Lillian Lewis. Lois Horne was a 1989 graduate of Clinton High School, she completed her degree through night school while working and raising and supporting her loving family. She was married to the late Jesse T. Horne of Jonesville, SC and was the mother of six wonderful children.

Mrs. Horne was a life long devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Cross Hill. She served the church as the librarian for many years as well as acting on several key committees. She enjoyed serving in the church as well as providing outgoing support to those in the community such as the sick and shut-ins, always extending a loving hand to anyone willing to receive it.

Mrs. Horne loved spending time with her family. She was the person that could always brighten a room and cause laughter whether intentionally or not. She loved to travel, seeing many states throughout her life including Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina to name a few. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and would always bake many treats for friends and family throughout the year but especially the holidays. Her time in the kitchen fostered a strong bond with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

When Mrs. Horne stepped through the pearly gates of heaven she was greeted by the Lord Jesus, her parents, loving husband, her sisters Juanita Bolton, and Lillian Lewis, her daughter Rita Chapman, and granddaughter Mary Burgess.

The love and memory of Lois Horne will live on in the world as those closest to her carry on her legacy; her children: Regina Burgess, LaJuan Ariail, Ricky (Connie) Burgess, Robbie (Juanita) Burgess, and Rex Burgess; her grandchildren: Dorian Burgess, Joshua Gilmer, Aaron Burgess, Justin Burgess, Houston Mims, Dawn Boggero and Heather Johnson; her many great-grandchildren; a great, great-granddaughter; and her adopted daughter Scarlet Muir along with a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn yet carry and pass on the many wonderful memories made with and by Lois Horne.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Cross Hill with Rev. Curtis Marshall officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery of Cross Hill.
